The Lambda Nu Omega Story


Lambda Nu Omega was formed through the interest of a few sorors in the Lake County area, spearheaded by Soror Isabelle Buckner, in the form of an Alpha Kappa Alpha round-up.  The round-up was held at her home on Sunday, February 8, 1976.  Efforts were put into action which eventually led to the chartering of Lambda Nu Omega chapter of Lake County, Illinois.  This chartering has the distinction of being the first Black Sorority in Lake County.

Lambda Nu Omega was chartered May 27, 1977 at the Waukegan Public Library in Waukegan, Illinois.  The Chartering procedures were performed by the Central Regional Director, Soror Gloria Bond of South Bend, Indiana.  Present for the chartering were Soror Odie Roberts (Past Central Regional Director) and Soror Lorraine R. Green (Past Second Supreme National Basileus).  The chartering members of Lambda Nu Omega Chapter are as follows:
